What is a prayer journal?
This is a broad answer. Prayer journals are a written way to keep up with your prayers. This can be in a variety of ways. Some might like to write their prayers down verbatim as if they are writing a letter to God. Others might keep bullet point lists of their prayers.
Essentially, a prayer journal will help keep you focused and to help your mind remember all of the different things that are on your heart.
Why should I keep a prayer journal?
While prayer journals are not necessary, at all. They are a great way to keep your focus and not to leave out any important prayers you want to bring before God. It is easy to become guilty of not following through when saying you will pray for someone. With all of the best intentions of doing so, only to accidentally forget.
We are human, it’s natural to forget. Since we know this about our nature, we can be proactive and try to prevent neglecting to pray for specific requests by writing it down.
Keeping a special place to write prayer requests down can help eliminate this issue. It will give you a place to write down specific prayers you want to bring before God.
Make your own prayer journal

A great inexpensive way to keep a prayer journal is just using a notebook or paper you already have lying around your home. There is no need to get all fancy. Although, I do love to have a beautiful journal that already has headers and categories to help keep me stay even more organized and focused.
If you want to make your own at home download my free printable below and follow these steps:
After you have downloaded the file, open the file in Adobe PDF reader. Open the print menu and choose the number of pages you’d like to print.
Print the front cover on card stock for more durability.
For prayer journal pages, select the box to print on both side of the paper and to flip on the long edge.

Using a binding machine, like this easy pro click machine, punch holes in the paper. It is suggested to not hole punch more than 4-6 pages at a time, depending on thickness.
For the back cover, use a blank piece of card stock.

After all of the pages have holes in them, stack them up and line the holes up. Put the proclick binding spines in the holes and click them together.

If you have kids, it might be helpful to also get organized with your family Bible time. Read all about our Bible time cabinet to learn more.
